Today is both Mother’s Day and my mother’s birthday. One month ago to the day she passed away due to complications from Stage 4 colon cancer. She was 47 years old.My mother was once a beautiful model, though she was always the most beautiful woman in the world to me, so suffice to say that her withering and thinning of hair as the treatments progressed was far and away from the shining woman we all knew.
When one of her coworkers had a beautician come in and perform a makeover whilst in treatment, she was thrilled, thrilled enough to call me and tell me all about it. A woman who spent time with my mother saw the emotional response and, having survived, started a foundation to help give the same sorts of services. Deb’s Day provides the same services at no cost to the recipient. The foundation’s website can be found here: www.debsday.org
Please take a look and, if you have the means, make a donation. The emotional part of the battle is just as important as the physical portion and I know that this helped my mother prolong her fight…let’s help someone else fight and win.
you make me so proud to call you my son. you just blow your mothers / & myself mind, now and allways love you boy……. now and forever
